Several Acclaimed Authors to Speak and Sign Books at Harrisburg State Museum

January 7, 2010 (Harrisburg, PA): In celebration of the Dr King Holiday, New Mindz Enterprises and Nathaniel Gadsden?s Writer?s Wordshop will come together On Saturday, January 16, 2010, to serve the Harrisburg community and provide its residents a diverse and dynamic group of persons who are setting a positive example in their communities. The theme for the event is ?Finding Your Dream? and will have a special emphasis on education and empowerment.

It will take place at the Harrisburg State Museum at 300 North Street, Harrisburg, PA from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event is free to the public and will offer a day full of educational, entertaining and informational programs for residents of all ages.

Headlining the event are several authors led by Harrisburg native Jonathan Z Queen. In his second book entitled: Are You S.A.N.E. (Setting A New Example): Changing Who You Are by Changing How You Think, Queen, draws on his experiences as a convicted drug-dealer and career criminal, who was able to change his life after spending over nine years in prison. Today, Jonathan is a minister, motivational speaker and co founder of The S.A.N.E. Tour, a national campaign that provides assemblies, panels, seminars, training programs and workshops designed to inspire individuals through the power of positive change.

Also on hand will be Moses Miller, author, journalist and co-founder of Mind Candy, LLC. A life long New Yorker, Miller is the author of the critically acclaimed Nan series, Once Upon a Time in Harlem and his latest release, The Barack in Me. Miller holds a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters of Science degree in Technology Management obtained from Polytechnic University.

Fredric Almond, author of Scarred for Life: Stabbed Thirty-nine Times and Forgave (A True Story) At the age of eleven, Fredric had to face a horrific event that left him on the floor bleeding from being stabbed approximately thirty-nine times. The situation changed his entire life as a young boy. With courage, perseverance, and willingness, he overcame the scars and wrote an inspirational book encouraging others to forgive as well.

Randy Kearse is an author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur who served 13 years, 6 months and 2 days in federal prison. He returned to society with a new perspective, a fresh focus, and strong determination to succeed. His second book is entitled, Changin' Your Game Plan: How to use incarceration as a stepping stone for SUCCESS. He has appeared on the Colbert Report, Tyear TV, and Bronx Perspectives as well as a number of radio shows.

Dwayne S. Joseph is an Essence best selling author who spent his formative years in Harrisburg PA. He has penned such classics as The Womanizers, If Your Girl Only Knew, Choices Men Make, Gigolos Get Lonely Too, and Never Say Never. He has also contributed stories to the books, Around the Way Girls and A Dollar and a Dream.

Keith Belvin (K.L.) a New York City Teacher, poet and author who gained media attention when he turned his daughter in after viewing a video of her and her friends assaulting a passenger on the subway. His first book, ?A Man in Transition" speaks to the center of this changed man?s heart while providing a glimpse into a past that will make you shake your head.

The event will also feature an Urban Peace Initiative presented by The National Exhoodus Council and a Kwanzaa celebration with the amazing Imani Edu-Tainers African Drum and Dance Group, The Harambee Community Award Winners and The Bernard Ballard Fashion Show.
