I was born, and continue to reside, in South Jamaica, New York. I am a father of five, High School Dean of students for the New York City Department of Education for over twelve years, a born again Christian and happily married. My lovely supportive wife is my strength, best friend, and pre-editor of my work and the work we publish. Together we run our own boutique publishing company, called Bravin Publishing LLC. www.BravinPublishing.com We give authors a home to get their work produced and read without worry of being taken advantage of. We manage to keep everything together by sustaining a united front in marriage and business. The publishing company is also a way of giving unknown authors a way to publish their work themselves and our way of presenting ourselves as role models for today’s youth in the African American community.
I obtained my A.S. in business from Kingsborough Community College; City University of New York, a B.S. in Education from York College; City University of New York and a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum Writing, Assessments and Teaching from Walden University. I anticipate beginning my PhD studies in the near future.
I am currently working as dean of students in Brooklyn, New York. A position I don't take lightly. I cherish the idea of being a mentor and educator to children the world says are difficult to reach. My students respect me because I respect them. I have learned to have an honest ear for their problems while fairly holding the line for discipline. There really is no difference in me as a dean then when I was a classroom teacher. Commiting oneself to the children is truly the secret to a long educational career. The students respond by allowing me be a serogat father to most. I couldn't see myself doing anything which would take me away from working with children.
As a motivational speaker, I use all my talents and faith to address many situations. I make it a habit to speak to many different people from many walks of life. Some would say I am preacher, I am OK with that. In a way I am. My faith is my anchor and feel its my duty to help others in whatever way I can. When given the chance I am going to have my say. So if your not ready to hear a ear full don't give me a microphone or audiance to work with .
This page and what I am doing as educator, mentor, author and business man is truly a reflection of the complete man I am. As the page evolves its proof I am doing the same. Learning and growing is what I ask of my students and what I demand of myself. You can see that growth in my books and in my interviews. I hope if you have taken the time to reach this point you will consider me to for some type of affair, event or wherever someone needs help. I am sure there is something I can be a postive resource to and I look forward too it..
