I just finished this book .. I am still left shocked that this man has put his personal life out on display to help someone else.. this is rare to have this kind of story being told what i will say is testimony because that is what this book is..

I have not read a book were someone outlined their life where they did not look good in it maybe some not in a way this book went into details...with all his lying, cheating, all the many partners he had not using protection ...list could of went on and on,

you think damn some on someone who is addicted to sex please until i read this i did not believe in it.. now i understand what it is most times its not the sex its what you are covering the sex act with pain from the past that u have yet to deal with. being no father, sexual abuse so many factors that can lead a person down a deadly road of destruction..

I give Kl Belvin Kudos for calling his self out and letting the world know what is going on out in this world shedding a light on fixing issues instead of sweeping it under the rug.. Kudos for finding the deeper issue and using your testimony to help others..

 Life Changing,

I have read Mr. Blevins' previous books, so I am familiar with his "Lay it all out there" style. But this book was somewhat different. K.L has proved himself to be a good writer. But the true test of any "great" writer is whether he/she can fully draw in the audience and paint a picture on their hearts. A great writer digs in to the areas of their own soul and outwardly exposes these intimate parts to the world. He did just this, he uncovered his faults, and he was not scared to be vulnerable to his readers. But for me, this book meant a little bit more. This was my life I was reading about, in more ways than one. Our lives mirrored each others in some many ways, which made it so easy for me to identify with him. Maybe I should add that I am a product of his former ways. I am his son, who was reunited with him after over 26 years. So as I read this book, it gave me answers to questions I've had my entire life. I wish I had read something like this years ago, or had that guidance from him as I was growing up because I could have avoided a lot of the same issues. But as I read my father road to redemption, it calms the fires of internal pain. It provided relief to a young man's soul, because I am not the only one that struggles with these issues. Dad, this book, can be a life saver; not only for men, but for families. People, I would suggest this book to everyone, because we all love to see the good win in the end, but I love it when the proverbial bad guy turns back and find his way.

Powerful Testimony

Hey Author K. L. Belvin thanks for allowing God to have his way in your life by writing and sharing your powerful testimony. WOW! God can really change men, now I truly believe that. I could not put this book down once I begin reading it. This is a life changing book for everyone. You and Tiffany are a blessing. Thank you! Thank you for making a difference. By the way I finish reading your book in a few hours. POWERFUL testimony!  

RELEASING THOESE DEMONS.

Author and educator K.L. Belvin has opened the doors to his life and hung his ugly laundry out for all to see. Being frank is an understatement here, he is honest and straight forward about his past destructive, addictive, and abusive behavior. No K.L. didn't harm anyone physically, but using persons for your own self pleasure without caring about how the other feels, fits neatly under the abusive category and leaves it's own special scars for all parties involved. Women looking for love in all the wrong places, many with low self esteem make it so easy for a predator, inviting many issues such as un-wanted pregnancies and STDs. Once you enter into this author's world you will read of his transition, of his need and willingness in wanting to change. A higher power made interventions but his blessing were still being blocked by his behavior, which he had perfected over many years and was hard to leave behind. From a young boy who was never taught how to behave in a relationship, to a grown man whose addiction ended up causing pain to those who loved him, to a spiritual man and educator who has taken his own painful journey and shared with us in hopes that others will learn. This is a must read journey Such an inspirational read!

The part in this book that spoke so loudly to me is when K.L. realized that a higher power was speaking to him through different people and events and he KNEW... but yet his addictive personality won over instead of doing the right thing. I think everyone has an "epiphany" at some point during our lifetime but most of us choose to ignore it. Tiffany is K.L.'s wife who he speaks highly of...well, I won't spoil it for the readers but I am going to say that she is a very SPECIAL kind of woman!

My recommendation to K.L. is to fine tune this read by going over the editing process as it so deserves a five star rating!

It is rare to find a man who is willing to admit his mistakes, wrongdoings, and inabilities to commit in his relationship. In From Gigolo to Jesus by K. L. Belvin, readers are introduced to such a man. K. L. Belvin tells his story of unhealthy behaviors, lying, cheating, and being a typical man.

K. L. Belvin lets readers into his world of mischief so people can understand that at times he felt his actions were not wrong. The remarkable thing about From Gigolo to Jesus is that the author wants to change. After reading From Gigolo to Jesus, it made me a believer that people can change, can work towards a better life and achieve it.

From Gigolo to Jesus is about sexual addiction and learning to overcome it. The author shares information about his life that may help another person dealing with the same stronghold. It is heartfelt, truthful, and to the point. I will not tell you my favorite chapters in this book because it will give away too much and each person should experience the story of a man who listened to God and found the change he needed. I recommend From Gigolo to Jesus to others.

Great Book

This is such a heartwarming story about a man who shares with us his personal journey from childhood to adulthood, complete with all the good, bad, and ugly that life offered him along the way. It's inspiring for children, married people, men and women. Everyone can come away from this book having learned something to either take to heart, or help someone they know with the information provided in this book. It's a powerful testimony that millions will benefit from.

"A Man In Transition" by K.L. Belvin is a book of poetry and short stories that touch on a variety of topics from the loss of a loved one or one of respect and appreciation, to fatherhood, relationships and marriage and covering topics of self doubt, regrets, determination and self pride. This book is a journey in to the life and thoughts of K.L. The Writer...sharing of himself in a very vulnerable way, but keeping it so real into how we has human beings may think, act and suffer consequences behind our actions and decisions.

As I read through "A Man In Transition" I found it to feel like a journal into the life of K.L. Belvin and could see this book used as a daily reading. He shares poetry, closing with his thoughts to help the reader further understand where he was coming from or what he might hope you would get out of the piece. As I read the different pieces, it allowed me to feel like I was sitting in front of K.L., having a dialogue on life and I could hear myself respond or ask further questions. I know that K.L. Belvin felt he was stepping out on faith in publishing this book and in revealing himself in this manner. But to have a man share in a simple but real way is a special gift. I hope it will touch many people in a way that they will turn inward, to look at their own lives, thoughts and actions.

"A Man In Transition" is a book I would and could recommend to all people. Men, women, people of a variety of ethnic and socially economic groups for in my opinion this book touches on subjects that "people" in general have experienced and are not willing to admit to. It is much more than a poetry & short story book...it is a lesson on life. K.L. The Writer...you are a great writer but you are much more than that...you, in my opinion are a teacher of life. I look forward to reading "From Gigolo to Jesus" and other future publications writer by you.

A Man in Transition is a collection of poems and stories from a man’s point of view at different stages in his development. It gives you an inside account on the thought process of a man while exposing the man that K.L. is, was and wants to become. This compilation is very touching and gives life lessons from his point of view and reflects just how much he enjoys touching the lives of his family and students as well as appreciates the fact that they are in his life.
K.L. gives single women hope that there are brothers out there like him and he also gives married women faith that their husbands have the soulful philosophy that K.L. has recorded. This is a wonderful read and I found myself sitting in bed reading some of his works to my boyfriend while we were on the phone. Our favorite is “Harmony” and no truer words were spoken than when he wrote, “True happiness comes when I have an equal and our spirits are fused. This is the master plan forgotten.” All I could say was “Wow”.
This book is a recommended read for ladies who need a better understanding of a man on his journey of transition and for the men who would like to see in words what he was probably thinking all along while going through his very own conversion.

A Man in Transition

I met author K.L. at the Queens Book Fair, and was very pleased once he told me that he was a poet. As some know, poetry is one of the hardest to pen, however K.L did just that. I was skeptical at first, about doing this review, but I was curious on how this author was able to do a smooth transition from short stories and poetry. His heartfelt honesty, dedication and passion was clearly shown in his eyes when he was telling me about his poetry.
K.L. was able to write his autobiography in a truly unique way combining with poetry and short stories. He explains in detail of who he was in the past and how the changes he made. I was truly impressed of K.L talent, and I have to bow down to him, he is a true POET!!! Congrats on your debut and I can't wait to see what his next on your agenda. This is a must read and I highly recommend this to everyone this is a definite 10.

A Man in Transition by K.L. is an autobiographical, poetic, confession. The author, poet and teacher chooses to show his inner man by revealing who he was, is and strives to be in a poetry and short story styled book. From the beginning, K.L. tells us who he was and who he is trying to be. He also, quite honestly tells the reader that he is a Christian in transition and were it not for God, he would have been unable to do what he has done. As a reader, I am grateful for his openness and his honesty.

The book is filled with heartfelt poems and short stanzas, where in many cases he is testifying and teaching by honesty. His poem entitled, `Pain' speaks to what we must often go through to appreciate the good. `Perfect Woman: If Only in My Mind' and `My Proposal', truly speaks to a man's love for his woman, his wife. There were many moments when he spoke about fatherhood that I wanted to simply share the word with every brother who has fathered a child. K.L does a wonderful job of showing his inner man and allowing others to learn from him. My only suggestion is there is no need to continually tell us you are changed, your words speak for themselves. I recommend this book to all readers who enjoy truthful insights.

Seems author KL Belvin knew that a transition was necessary in order for him to move forward and become the man he was destined to be. In the back of my head…I hear ‘what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man.’ LOL. I had the pleasure of meeting KL this summer at the Black Writer’s Reunion and Conference, and he is one of the most loving, down-to-earth and genuine brothers that you can ever meet. And did I mention he is a big ole teddy bear too. I do not know what he was like previously, but I know I like what I see in the man he has become. “What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man.’ LOL. Of course, since I consider him a friend, I though it fitting that someone else assess and review his book.
